speaking to Grande yesterday I agree that this whole J award seems to be somewhat ironic as it tends to be triple J and their listeners that oppose competition and awards (like these guys).
The saving grace for me tends to be the fact that 15 albums were nominated, so they really are giving a big yell out to a stack of good music (but why wasnt cat empire nominated?). So, its not all that bad, but i guess it could be viewed as somewhat ironic.
